Eye bags can usually occur due to various reasons such as lack of sleep, stress, aging or genetic factors. However, bags and puffiness can be reduced with a regular care routine and the right products for eye area care.
Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Ufuk Askeroğlu explains the wonders about eye bags seen in both women and men.
Be gentle around your eyes
Gently cleaning the eye area daily keeps the skin clean and can prevent the formation of eye bags. Cleanse this area gently using a mild cleanser or eye makeup remover in the morning and evening. Since the skin around the eyes is very sensitive, choosing a moisturizer is important. Use a light eye cream specially formulated for the eye area. Apply this cream gently with your fingertips in circular motions, and increase blood circulation by massaging the under-eye area.
Cold compress can be good for eye bags
Applying a cold compress can be effective in alleviating eye bags. Soak a clean cloth or cotton pad in cold water, squeeze out the excess water, and place it over your eyes. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. The cold temperature reduces puffiness and improves blood circulation around the eyes. Regularly massaging the area around your eyes can reduce eye bags by increasing lymph drainage. Gently massage with clean fingertips in a circular motion. This can reduce fluid retention in the under-eye area and improve circulation.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR HEALTH
A healthy diet and drinking enough water can improve your overall skin health and reduce bags around your eyes. Eat fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants, and limit salt intake, as excess salt can cause water retention in the body. Getting enough sleep and managing stress can help prevent the formation of eye bags. Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep a day and use techniques such as yoga and meditation to reduce stress. The sun’s harmful UV rays can irritate the skin around your eyes and cause aging. Protect your eyes by using eye cream or sunglasses that contain sunscreen.
In some cases, it may be beneficial to take nutritional supplements for eye health recommended by your doctor. Supplements that contain vitamins and minerals that support eye health in particular can reduce eye area problems.
A daily care routine is an important step to improve eye bags, but serious problems may also require expert opinion and advanced treatments. It is important to follow regular care and expert advice for a healthy and youthful appearance.
