Understanding Ptosis
Ptosis is a condition where the upper eyelid droops, partially covering the iris (colored part of the eye) or even the pupil. This drooping can occur due to:
- Age-related changes– Natural weakening of the levator muscle
- Muscle weakness– Congenital or acquired levator dysfunction
- Neurological conditions– Nerve-related eyelid drooping
- Trauma or injury– Damage to eyelid structures
- Previous surgery– Eyelid surgery complications
- Medical conditions– Various systemic conditions affecting eyelid function
